The 3DBigDataSpace project has established a pan-European repository infrastructure to aggregate, enrich, and deliver high-dimensional 3D and 4D digital cultural heritage data. Designed for GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) professionals, researchers, content creators, and educators, the platform provides scalable, web-based access to massive spatial datasets for extended reality (XR), preservation, and analytical applications.

Key Technical & Platform Deliverables
Aggregated Pan-European Datasets:
Direct access to tens of thousands of standardized 3D models, structural scans, and historical artifacts sourced from diverse European repositories.
AI-based tools:
Automated pipeline integration using AI for semantic annotation, spatial-temporal categorization, and enhanced asset discoverability
Web-Native 3D & 4D Viewers:
In-browser inspection tools featuring real-time spatial point cloud rendering, temporal 4D cityscape browsers, and AR-ready asset streaming without high-end client hardware requirements.
Open-Access Asset Pipeline:
Delivery of standardized, optimized assets formatted for virtual reality integration, physical 3D printing, digital storytelling, and urban history research.
Operational Demonstration Cases

The project validated its infrastructure across real-world domain implementations:

Storytelling & Urban History:
Partnered with the Time Machine Organisation’s Local Time Machines to demonstrate web-based 3D, 4D, and augmented reality viewers and transform physical artifacts and historical sites into interactive, multi-temporal digital experiences.
Museums & Edutainment:
Collaborating with The Hunt Museum, the project delivered interactive educational resources and immersive extensions to bring physical museum artifacts into web-based interactive spaces.
Cultural Tourism:
Integrated location-based 3D assets into European cultural and pilgrimage routes via the rurAllure initiative.
