Exploring 3D Digital Heritage: PCSS Workshop on 12 February 2026

We’re excited to announce an upcoming hands-on workshop series at PCSS on 12 February 2026, focused on 3D scanning and working with digital 3D objects. As part of WP6 activities, this workshop will explore how cutting-edge 3D technologies are transforming heritage documentation, research, and education.

What to Expect

The day will kick off with a warm welcome and opening presentations from project co-coordinator Alexandru Stan and WP6 leader Marco Medici, alongside Department Heads Ola Nowak and Maciej Głowiak, setting the stage for an immersive exploration of 3D technologies in heritage. Participants will then dive into:

  • 3D Scanning (Theory + Practice): Learn how to capture high-fidelity 3D models and understand the workflows behind them.

  • Working with Digital 3D Objects: Hands-on sessions using the PCSS Viewer, a web-based platform for inspecting, analyzing, and interacting with 3D objects.

  • Networking and Collaboration: Engage with fellow participants, share insights, and foster interdisciplinary connections.

Discover the PCSS Viewer

The PCSS Viewer is a web-based 3D platform built with React and Three.js, designed for exploring digital objects and collections. It allows participants to rotate and inspect models from any angle, capture screenshots, visualize meshes, customize textures, measure dimensions directly on the model, access annotations and metadata, and even embed models into other platforms for wider use. Currently supporting .obj and .glb files, the PCSS Viewer continues to evolve based on participant feedback, making it a powerful and user-friendly tool for heritage professionals.

Stay Tuned!

This workshop offer a unique opportunity to experience the power of 3D digital technologies, develop practical skills, and contribute to the growing knowledge base for digital heritage preservation and research. Stay tuned for updates, and get ready to explore, analyze, and share history in a whole new dimension!
