Step into the Future of Urban History: Join 3DBigDataSpace at UHDL 2025!
The 4th International Workshop on Urban History in the Age of Digital Libraries (UHDL 2025) is just around the corner – taking place on Tuesday, 4 November at 4:20 p.m. CET in Vienna, as part of CHNT 2025.
3DBigDataSpace is delighted to be a co-organiser alongside other leading European projects!

CHNT (Cultural Heritage and New Technologies) is an internationally renowned conference that brings together experts in archaeology, heritage conservation, digital humanities, and information technology to explore how innovation and technology are transforming the preservation and interpretation of cultural heritage.

This year’s highlight is the session on “Data and Technologies for Architectural and Urban History”, chaired by Prof. Sander Münster (FSU Jena, Germany). The session will showcase how advanced digital tools, 3D modelling, and AI are transforming the ways we explore, preserve, and interpret our urban past.

We will delve into three key areas:

1. Data Handling & Schemes

  • Discover how 3D databases, metadata, and semantic data make urban history research smarter and more interconnected.

  • Learn about long-term storage solutions, interoperability standards, and insights from human–computer interaction for historic models.

2. Machine Learning & AI

  • Explore how big data and AI generate high-level semantic understanding from photographs, drawings, and 3D models.

  • Experience the latest methods, including radiance fields and image-based synthesis, in digital humanities research.

3. Visualisation & Presentation

  • See how photogrammetric reconstructions and innovative visualisations bring historic sites vividly to life.

  • Learn about practical research scenarios, educational applications, and opportunities for public engagement.

Who Should Join?

Whether you are a heritage professional, 3D/BIM specialist, academic researcher, or policymaker, this session offers a unique opportunity to explore state-of-the-art approaches and connect with experts working at the intersection of technology, heritage, and science.

Don’t miss the chance to:

  • Exchange ideas with leading researchers

  • Discover innovative tools and workflows

  • See first-hand how 3D technologies and FAIR data principles are shaping the future of urban history
